Intellego Animal

Far Side of the Cow.

InAn Level 3
R: Voice, D: Momentary, T: Individual
You get a momentary glimpse of any side of the target animal.
This could be used to see if a sleeping ball of fur has big teeth and claws or not or to determine exactly what it was that just brushed up against you in the dark. If the spell fails, the caster might well suspect an animal with might, an illusion, or a transformed human.

Glimpse the Coat or Crest

InAn(He) Level 5
R: Arcane, D: Momentary, T: Individual
The caster can take a ripped piece of cloth, perhaps from the Coat of Arms of a knight, and can see for a moment the whole piece of clothing or cloth.

The Hunter’s Cunning

InAn 10
R: Voice, D: Momentary, T: Individual
This spell informs the caster of a weakness, if one exists, in the natural armour of a specific animal within range (e.g. the site of an old wound, or a weak point in its scales). This grants successful future attacks an additional body level of damage if the attacker's "thwak margin" (attack total - defense total) is at least 5. This knowledge can be communicated to others (e.g. Grogs) though this might need a Communication + Leadership roll.
This spell was developed by Tobias of Flambeau who was determined to learn the weaknesses of all opponents he faced in combat.
(Base: 4, R: Voice +2, D: Momentary, T: Individual)
Contributor: Badger 101
Notes: This spell was originally presented with the following effect "This grants successful future attacks some reduction in the animal’s soak (roughly half at the storyguide’s discretion)" rather than the additional level of damage.

Scent of Prey

InAn 10
R: Personal, D: Concentration, T: Smell
Allows the receipant to detect the smell of a specific animal, detecting both the animal itself, and its spoor at a range of up to 25 paces.

Notes: From the message board level 10-15 spells project.

What's a Matter, Boy?

InAn 10
R: Sight, D: Concentration, T: Individual
Detects what is physically wrong with an animal. One condition will be revealed each round, starting with the most dangerous to the animal, and working its way down.
(Base 3, +2 Sight, +1 Conc)
Contributor: angafea

Comprehension of the Beast’s Speech

InAn 20
R: Eye, D: Concentration, T: Individual
This spell allows the caster to understand and converse with any non-magical land animal. The Maga automatically understands the verbal and non-verbal language of the animal, and can communicate basic ideas to the animal. Animals tend to only understand very simple ideas and descriptions that they have common experience of (hunting, trees, water, specific smells, fear, etc).
With Avicia’s sigil the Maga’s canine teeth become slightly elongated and curved like a wolf’s for the duration of the spell.

Growling Chirping Sniffing and Enlightenment.

InAn 25
R: Voice, D: Concentration, T: Individual
The caster may converse with the target animal

Ear of the Beasts

InAn 30
R: Personal, D: Concentration, T: Hearing
You understand the speech of animals. Most animals have very crude thoughts and, hence, speech - but some can be very intelligent.
This spell allows you to speak back to an animal in its own language. Each animal kind has a different language, and while you can speak back to any animal you can hear animals of a different kind may not understand you.
(Base 10, +1 Concentration, +3 Hearing)
Contributor: Yair.
Notes: It is assumed that each animal type has a different langauge, so it wouldn't make sense for the spell to allow you to speak at a universal animal tongue.

Beastial Senses

InAn 30
R touch D sun T individual
The caster will see, hear, smell, taste, and feel what the target animal is experiencing until the next sunrise or sunset. A magus can typically push these sensations out of their conscious thoughts but any intense sensations that the animal experiences may necessitate concentration checks for the caster. CAsting the spell on moer than one animal at a time can cause tremendous distraction for the caster. During the duration of the spell the target animal will act as an arcane connection to the caster with a +2 penetration multiplier.

Those few magi who have recreated this spell from the original lab texts have all designed the spell for use on their familiar without warping it/him/her.
(Base 15 (I judged access to the senses of the animal roughly equivelent to reading the animal's recent memories) +1 range touch, + 2 duration sun')

Rebuilding the Tome of the Mind

InAn (req: Re) 35
R: Touch, D: Sun, T: Individual
Forms an image of the book touched in your mind, for the spell's duration. The image can be manipulated to view every page in the Tome, allowing you to accurately copy the tome into another volume.
Auricus of House Bonisagus created this spell to allow him to copy a badly mangled text that came into his posession, and was supposedly created by Bonisagus himself. Unfortunately that text was a fabrication, but the spell he used to view the damaged text and allow him to copy the tome is still of use.

Notes: I included the rego requisite to allow for mental turning of the pages. Some readers said the spell is contested

Guardian of the Forest

InAn 100 Ritual
R: Arcane Connection, D: Year, T: Boundary
The caster gains complete insight into the mind of every animal within the boundary (up to about 3 miles in diameter), no matter where he is at the moment. He can read all their thoughts, emotions, and memories, and is privy to all their sensations. The caster is constantly aware of any animal within the boundary, and of what each is feeling and sensing. This is focused on the boundary, and not on specific animals. This awareness even extends to his dreams, which are filled with fragments of their sensations.
The sheer strangeness of the experience leaves the recipient harrowed. The spell is always considered to be a constant, high power, effect not designed for him (even if he invented and casts it).
This dubious spell was supposedly developed by the renowned Derrezan filius Bjornaer. It is said it was this spell that drove him to his insanity, as even he was unable to endure the multitudes of perceptions flowing through his mind. This spell is rumored to exist in the library of Crintera, but none has used it in living memory and the Bjornaer do not even admit to its existence.
